Vice Admiral Alex Kane is currently the Deputy Commander of Starfleet's Seventh Fleet, commanded by Admiral Michael Vaughn, headquartered on Trill. She previously served as Commanding Officer of Task Group Alpha, a major operational unit of Task Force 1 in the Sixth Fleet. Following distinguished tenures in command of Deep Space 19 and the USS Bismarck.

Alex Kane was born on Earth to Talloc and Jemma Kane. Bother her parents were in Starfleet, so she grew up mostly in San Francisco. In school she was considered popular but meet some confrontation over her telepathic powers, which were present with from a young age, and were quiet powerful. Her Aunt Andra took it upon herself to help train and hone Alexandra's skills and as she grew up her powers began to become more powerful.

Her Aunt returned to Betazed at the beginning of the Dominion War. She ended up being their during the Dominion Occupation of Betazed. When it was over it turned out that her Aunt had become close to a Romulan Commander as a result Alex received several cases of Romulan Ale as a academy graduation gift. She always keeps at least one bottle with her on her assignments even though it is illegal.

Kane entered Starfleet academy at 17, she worked hard and excelled in all of her classes. She also played on several teams including the volleyball and soccer team. At the end of her second year she accepted the officer to train as an Intelligence Officer. Kane also had to deal with some hostility from other class mates, mainly because they felt she was only there because of her father, a prominent member of SFI. In response Kane pushed herself and trained even harder to prove that she deserved to be there.

Kane graduated third in her class and remained at Starfleet to further her training, serving as a clerk at Starfleet Intelligence. Kane was posted to DS2 in 2376 as the Chief Intelligence Officer. Her tour was rather uneventful but she worked hard and earned a place in the Officer Exchange program. Again she faced some hostility about earning the spot, thinking it was again because of her parents.

Kane served three and a half months as the Operation Officer aboard the Cardassian Galor Class Starship Aldara through its mission charting a vast nebula near the Gamma Quadrant end of the Barjon wormhole. Kane held the acting rank Kara, Cardassian equivalent to Lieutenant JG. Over this time Kane became fluent in Cardassian and made several contacts here, both personnel and official.

After her exchange Lieutenant JG Kane was posted to the USS Berlin a Nebula Class. Kane was posted here for 8 months as Chief Intelligence Officer, until the vessel was destroyed by Orion pirates. Almost all of the crew survived thanks to the USS Benton and the USS Liberty. Following this Kane was posted to a Klingon vessel, again in the Exchange Program, due to a last minute drop out.

Kane was placed as acting Sogh lagh and relief weapons officer on the IKS Jor'tka. Kane was originally outcast by the Klingons for apparent weakness and size, in addition to being an outsider. It wasn't until a fight broke out and she showed her ability to hold her own, even with a Bat'leth. Over her mission she developed a taste for Blood wine. She also learned a few more colorful drinking songs that she's know to bring out when she has a few to many.

After her exchange Kane took a position at the academy and taught Tactical Analysis. Kane only taught for a semester before being reassigned as Strategic Operations Officer of the USS Endeavor. The Endeavor was a Defiant class tasked with mapping the outline area of the Bad Lands. It was odd that a Defiant had been tasked with this but it was said to be because of its maneuverability. The Endeavor ended up being destroyed in a massive plasma storm when they had ended up off course. Kane was injured in the loss of the ship, but not severely.

Kane's career had been fairly diverse so far, gaining rank quickly and being posted across known Galaxy. From here she was assigned as Chief Intelligence Officer of the USS Bismarck (NCC-1108-B) a Refit Intrepid Class. Here her promotions came here faster then even she would have liked. With in a few months she was made Acting XO, two months later she was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and full XO, however when the new Captain was pulled out at the last minute she was made Acting Commanding Officer despite very little time in the XOs chair and still being a newly promoted Lieutenant Commander and only being 27. In early 2383 Kane was promoted to full Commander and full Commanding Officer.

In the middle of the year, she took several months leave, she used the time to work with Starfleet Special Operations to track down those responsible for the kidnapping, and then death of her father. However when she tracked those responsible down her father was already dead. She accepted the loss knowing he wouldn't want her to dwell, or end her career over it she returned to the Bismarck, with a Promotion to Captain. Unfortunately in early 2384, Alex found out that her mother had died also. Her mother was killed in an accident in the lab when an experiment she was consulting on went wrong.

Like many young officers Alex had put her personal life on the back burner during her early career, she didn't date very much and in the early years didn't make too many friends. Once posted to the USS Bismarck, her career accelerated even faster, within a year she had gone from a Lieutenant and the Chief Intelligence Officer, to Captain and Commanding Officer of the ship.

During the Keralen War Alex also began a relationship with the Commanding Officer of the USS Vanguard (NCC-87175), Captain Oliver Scott. While it was a strange time to fine love, Alex was never one to do things the normal way. It was during the final weeks of the war that she also discovered she had a half brother. The product of a one night stand between her father and another women, shortly before her parents meet. William Kane, who last name by fluke was also Kane, was a little over 2 years older than her, and the pair eventually become close friends.

Following the Keralen War her love interest, Oliver Scott proposed to her and Alex accepted even though, the two had only been dating a few months. In late 2384 the pair married in a surprise wedding put on by the pairs family and friend and former Commander, Addison Black.

The Keralen War had its toll on Kane, during the time she lost both her parents, as well as her ship with destruction of the Intrepid Class Bismarck. Captain Kane however lucked out, she was placed in Command of the Sovereign Class USS Bismarck (NCC-1108-C), and managed to bring most of her crew with her. A move nicknamed by some as "Picarding" after Jean Luc Picard's similar actions taking after the loss of the Enterprise - D.

Kane only commanded the new Bismarck for a few months, following a temporal incident that involved the Bismarck being throw back in time to stop a major attack, Kane was arrested by Temporal Investigations. With some help from Admirals Black and Vaughn though, she was cleared off all charges.

The Investigation was quickly dropped when it was shown that the claims made by a certain disgruntle SFTI officer were out of line. Also as a sorta of payback, with the backing of Admiral Black and several other Admirals Alex was promoted to Rear Admiral, bypassing the rank of Commodore completely. She was assigned as Commanding Officer of Task Group Alpha, with the Bismarck now under the Command of Captain Paul Shepherd, serving as flagship. As well she would command the Group's base of operations, Deep Space 19. While she was felt a little awkward about being a 2 Star Admiral and less then 30, she accepted the challenge.

Over the next few years Admiral Kane's life changed a great deal. She eventually adapted to life on a station, and while she found herself missing ship life in the beginning she found the stability and consistency a comfort. Especially in 2385 when her and Oliver welcome there first children into the world, fraternal twins Jennifer Sarah and Lucas Matthew. Station life also helped as Oliver, now commanding the Lexington Carrier Strike Group based from DS19 was around much more then if the pair were on separate ships.

In late 2387 she was pulled from the DS19 command billet, as Fleet Command felt the Task Group needed full time attention from their CO and XO. In addition several new officers were assigned to her staff giving the Task Group an independent staff instead of doubling up on the Stations staff. However, a year later she was called upon by her former superior and colleague now Admiral Michael Vaughn who had been assigned to take command of the Seventh Fleet and wanted her as his XO. She accepted the posting along with promotion to Vice Admiral.
