The Aerospace Corps covers a wide range of positions from CONN Officers to Fighter pilots. Some Flight Deck Operations and Engineering personnel may occasionally be assigned to the Aerospace Corps as needed.

Aerospace Positions

Aerospace Chief (ASC)

This department head position is usually the highest ranking officer within the Aerospace Corps regardless of position. The ASC reports to the XO.

Chief CONN Officer (C-CONN)

A position only on Starships; the Chief CONN Officer is usually the most experienced pilot. His/her role is to pilot the ship during Alpha shift and during emergencies. The Chief CONN reports to the ASC or Bridge Command Officer as needed.

CONN Officer (CONN)

A position only on Starships; the CONN Officer fills in as relief pilot for the C-CONN. Reports to the C-CONN or Bridge Command Officer as needed.

Fighter Wing Commander (FWCO)

He/she is in charge of pilot training, and assigns fighter pilots as needed. Commands Fighter Operations and Patrols. Works closely with the Flight Deck Operations Manager to ensure Fighters are in working order. The FWCO reports to the ASC.

Asst. Fighter Wing CO (FWXO)

The Fighter Wing XO must be prepared to assume the role of Commander when necessary, oversees pilot training. Maintains duty and training rosters for all Fighter Pilots. Reports to the FWCO.

Squadron Leader Naval or Marine (SQL)

The Squadron Leader may be either Marine or Naval rank (both Officer or NCO), and commands a Squadron of fighters. The Squadron Leader must provide training for his/her Squadron both physically and mentally as well as maintain order and discipline. The Squadron leader reports to the Asst. Wing Commander. Any Officer may hold this position, but NCO's must have a min. rate of Sergeant or PO2.

Asst. Squadron Leader Naval or Marine (ASQL)

Asst. to the Squadron Leader, responsible for overseeing the implementing of orders from the Squadron Leader. May be held by any Marine or Naval NCO rate.

Fighter Pilot Naval or Marine (FPIL)

Specialized pilot trained in combat techniques. Answers to Asst. Squadron Leader. May be held by any officer or NCO.

Shuttle Pilot (PIL)

All small spacecrafts aboard Starfleet facilities (Shuttles, Runabouts, Captain's yacht etc.) are flown by qualified Shuttle Pilots. This is often the proving ground for new CONN Officers until they earn a position on a starship. Shuttle Pilots are part of the Aerospace Corps under the command of the Aerospace Chief, and may be assigned as replacement CONN as needed (if qualified). In such cases he/she would fall under the Command of the Chief CONN Officer.

Flight Deck Positions

Flight Deck Personnel are cross-over positions with the Engineering and Operations department. They are essentially specialized Engineers/Operations staff.

Flight Deck CO (FDCO)

He/she is in charge of signing out auxiliary craft to qualified Starfleet Personnel, oversees maintenance, damage control and diagnostics to shuttlebay and inventory of all craft under his/her command. Works closely with Operations Chief and Engineering Department. The FDCO reports to the XO.

Flight Deck OPS (FDO)

The Flight Deck Operations Officer oversees the operations that are undertaken in the shuttlebays and maintenance bay that is part of the ship or facility. All request for launch and landing clearance pass to the Flight Deck Operations Officer, who in turn must pass on requests to the Operations Officer manning the bridge. Assists in the maintenance of duty rosters for flight deck personnel; the training and supervision of flight deck personnel; the supervision of the operation and technical maintenance of flight deck systems; and the storage of flight deck equipment. Reports to the FDCO, or Chief of Operations as needed.

Flight Deck Controller (FDC)

The Flight Deck Controller conducts quality assurance tests and drills and ensures Flight Deck readiness through the Flight Deck Mates. The senior-most Flight Deck Controller may be appointed to Flight Deck OPS by the Flight Deck CO when necessary. Reports to the Flight Deck OPS.

Flight Deck Mates (FDM)

Reports to the Flight Controller and is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance and repair of ship's systems in one of the following areas of specialization:

  • Damage Control (D) - flight deck, fighter craft, and auxiliary craft safety and emergency equipment and systems.
  • Equipment (E) - standard, special, and emergency crew and crew support equipment.
  • Fuels (F) - fighter craft and auxiliary craft fuel, fueling systems, and containment systems.
  • Launching and Recovery (L) - fighter craft and auxiliary craft handling, preparation, launch and land procedures, and special recovery equipment.
  • Ordnance (O) - fighter craft and auxiliary craft weapons systems, and torpedo and probe inventories.
  • Supply and Logistics (S) - flight deck equipment storage and maintenance.

Flight Deck Engineer (E-FD)

Flight Deck Engineer is a specialized Engineering post. This Officer is assigned to the Flight Deck, and is responsible for the service and repair of all small vessel assigned to the base. The flight deck must maintain a set number for craft at all times for evacuation purposes in case of emergency. A team is assigned to the Engineer in charge of Shuttlecraft Maintenance, which is made up from NCO personnel, assigned by the Asst. and Chief Engineer. The Engineer in charge of Shuttlecraft Maintenance reports to the Asst. Chief Engineer and Flight Deck OPS.

Flight Control Technicians (FCT)

Reports to the Flight Deck Mates or the Flight Deck Engineer and is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of flight systems in one of the following areas of specialization:

  • Avionics and Flight Control (A) - navigational, piloting, reaction control and sensor systems.
  • Propulsion (P) - all drives and power systems.
  • Utilities and Support Systems (U) - environmental and communications systems, replicators, transporters, and all other secondary systems.
  • Navigation & Conn (N) - reaction control system, navigational sensor and input systems, automatic flight systems, manual flight systems, position verification, and Bridge to Engineering controls.
