Flag Officer

Flag Officers are the top tier of leadership of a military or paramilitary organization, they are commissioned officers and hold the top more billets. Flag Officers and the non-naval counterpart General Officers are responsible for the large scale planning, operation, and command and control of the a force, while the day-to-day operations of smaller commands is handled by Line Officers. Flag Officers may also be referred to the Admiralty, the name originates from the group of senior officers who flew specific flags from their Flagship while the commanded groups of naval vessels.
