Meritorious Unit Citation Medal

The Meritorious Unit Citation is bestowed not upon any individual within the fleet, but upon a simulation as a whole.

The simulation should be noted as an outstanding simulation due to the combined efforts of all members of the simulation during the time the award is given for.

All members in good standing of the simulation during the period in which the citation is awarded may personally display the associated ribbon on dress uniforms.

Criteria for this award include a high number of posts for any given mission/activity in which the simulation is engaged in, as well as the simulation's direct contribution to making the fleet stand out in one aspect or another. This commendation should be presented along with a notation of the time period for which it was awarded.

Awarded 31st December 2017 on the 10th Anniversary of the simming group with Sixth Fleet. Citation reads:

The Meritorious Unit Citation is awarded on the occasion of the simulation's 10th anniversary with Sixth Fleet. Over these 10 years the simulation went through several incarnations, retaining full continuity, along with its cast characters and leadership: USS Swiftsure RPG, USS Poseidon "Second Era" RPG, USS Avalon RPG, USS Axanar RPG and as of december 2016, the USS Flambeau RPG. Throughout, the simulation has enjoyed healthy levels of activity, a good measure of interactivity including several joint missions; it has built a rich, well-layered background history of its own, once also part of Tango Fleet. This is the fifth instance of the award the simming group has received from Sixth Fleet since February 2008.

USS Avalon

Awarded 31st October 2012 by FAdm Brett Gann as part of Sixth Fleet's 5 1/2 Year mid-anniversary. Citation reads:

In honor of the excellent quality and quantity of their simming over the last six months, and probably longer, I am very pleased to award the captain and crew of the USS Avalon with the Meritorious Unit Citation.

USS Oberon

Awarded 30th April 2010 as part of Sixth Fleet's 4th Anniversary. Citation reads:

For this year's Meritorious Unit Award I am choosing a simulation who has had a somewhat rocky history. Between the Fleet Split and command shake-ups, this simulation hasn't had it very easy. However, over the past few years it has stabilized and thrived, thanks to the skilled leadership of the command team, and the dedication of her crew.

USS Poseidon

MUC3.png

Awarded 18th October 2009 to USS Poseidon (Second Era) by Charles Jenkinson Task Force 3 Advisor for the mission "Child's Play". Citation reads:

The USS Poseidon is a vibrant, proud, and unique simulation. As such, it was my pleasure to watch with interest during Josh Ward's Intern Mission, despite all of the difficulties. He commanded the mission with the wisdom, humility, and style befitting of a Command School Graduate. He faced the long end of the challenges faced by a Commanding Officer more than anyone could have predicted. And he succeeded. Just as importantly, every member of this Crew deserves recognition for helping Josh Ward through his Intern mission. Though there has been a struggle with player numbers, you have all ensured that the USS Poseidon can be a Ship that the entire Fleet should be proud of. Thus, I confer upon all who contributed to Josh's intern mission "Child Play" the Meritorious Unit Citation.

USS Bismarck

Awarded 30th April 2009 as part of Sixth Fleet's 3rd Anniversary. Citation reads:

This simulation has had a long 12 year history in Tango Fleet and Sixth Fleet. Since its inception it has been an outstanding simulation of players, always posting to the max and interacting with other simulations in joint missions. In fact, in their latest joint mission, they actually out-posted their co-sim! (Nothing against the other sim, of course! lol.) Under unwavering leadership, this simulation has proven itself time and again to be the pride of Sixth Fleet.

USS Swiftsure

MUC2.png

Awarded 2nd September 2008 by Charles Jenkinson Task Force 3 Advisor for the mission "Inherit the Stars". Citation reads:

The crew consist of some of the best writers in the fleet. Plot lines are well thought out, and well executed. The Meritous Unit Citation is bestowed upon all the USS Swiftsure crew for the mission, "Inherit the Stars". It should serve as a note to all others how a mission should be run.

USS Swiftsure

MUC.png

Awarded 10th February 2008 as part of Sixth Fleet's 2 1/2 Year mid-Anniversary. Citation reads:

During the recent joint mission with the USS Poseidon, the USS Swiftsure crew and Command Team not only posted with their own sim crew, but also worked to extend the hand with that of the USS Poseidon crew. It shows how two sims can work together to create a great joint mission. It is with honor that I bestow upon the USS Swiftsure with the Meritous Unit Citation.

USS Saturn

Awarded 10th February 2008 as part of Sixth Fleet's 2 1/2 Year mid-anniversary. Citation reads:

This sim even during the holidays has maintained a great posting rate and the crew has kept growing. The command team of this sim work hard in encouraging their crew and the crew do a good job at taking posts and going to the funny areas of comic relief. So it is with honor to award the USS Saturn also with the Meritous Unit Citation.
