Crew Quarters Crew, family and other guests/visitors all need a place to sleep and/or spend off-duty time - a place they can call their place.

There are seven types of Quarters. A set number on any ship or facility will be dedicated to adaptable to allow variable atmospheric and gravitational conditions for crew or guests. Additional quarters may be created by Engineers given time and resources.

Quarters
Type Capacity Description
Barracks 6-12 people
  • Used to transport large numbers of personnel (or civilians) on short-duration trips lasting only few months.
  • Barracks have a common lavatory area, limited storage space, no living area, and not much privacy.
  • Barracks can be any size desired. Standard quarters size (below) would berth 6 (using single bunks) or 12 (using 'bunk-beds').
  • Small storage lockers near the head of each bunk are provided for personal gear.
Spartan Quarters 2-4 people
  • Found mainly on smaller vessels, and some Alien craft (such as Klingon)
  • Spartan quarters contain little more than a padded 'shelf', small storage area, and possibly a table and chair.
  • The lavatory may be shared with adjoining quarters or a common facility.
  • There is no replicator, food must be acquired from the messhall, lounge or other location with a replicator.
  • This is the only type of quarters available on most small craft and Runabouts.
Enlisted Quarters 4 people
  • 4-person shared quarters are among the most common for most Starfleet vessels and facilities.
  • It typically consists of a common living area and workspace, shared lavatory, and two bedrooms with two bunks each.
  • On most medium / large size ships since the 2350's they may also have a replicator for meals and other basic items (clothing, PADDs, simple tools, etc...)
Shared Quarters 2 people
  • 2-person shared quarters are among the most common for most Starfleet vessels and facilities.
  • Typically it consists of a common living area and workspace, shared lavatory, and two separate bedrooms.

Standard Quarters 1-2 people
  • Standard 'officers quarters' consist of a living / sleeping area, lavatory which may be shared with adjacent quarters, and small storage space.
  • On most medium / large size ships since the 2350's they may also have a replicator for meals and other basic items (clothing, PADDs, simple tools, etc...)
Family Quarters 3-5
  • Family Quarters are normally used only on larger vessels and bases.
  • It is roughly the same size as the 4 person shared, but internal layout is different.
Luxury Quarters 1-2
  • Luxury, or VIP quarters are the least numerous, and it would be rare to find them on small vessels, and most ships before 2300.
  • It is roughly the same size as a 2-person shared, but has a large living area, separate bedroom and lavatory facilities.
  • On most medium / large size ships since the 2350's they also have a replicator for meals and other basic items (clothing, PADDs, simple tools, etc...)

NOTE: Spartan and Barracks are not typical for 24th Century Federation Vessels/Facilities. Morale of crew may suffer if crew uses quarters for longer than a few months without shoreleave or other recreation.
